Live Webinar: Power on, Doing Digital Play Therapy

by Sabra Starnes, Play Therapy Trainer, LICSW,LCSW-C, RPT-S, M.Ed

$35 - $45

The 2-hour live webinar will explore the use of technology in the playroom can make the playroom more inviting and the process of therapy less threatening. Technologically‐minded play therapists share several important characteristics; the play therapist who uses technology is open‐minded and seeking. Similar to traditional play therapy materials, gameplay through the technological medium offers a safe emotional distance from the real issues so children can examine the themes in a fun and creative way.

Dr. Kulman has coined the term digital play therapy on how to use technology in treatment. Digital play therapy uses digital strategies to enhance communication with clients, provide access to psychoeducational materials, and serve as a tool in the psychotherapeutic process. Digital play therapy creates an opportunity to provide ongoing practice/skill development/generalization outside of the therapy office.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will define digital play therapy.

2. Participants will discuss the characteristics of a technologically minded play therapist.

3. Participants will be able to identify several video games, apps, and screen-based technologies with clients.

4. Participants identify the benefits of using a technological medium in sessions with clients
