This will be a two-hour and half hour play Therapy Webinar to discuss working with LBGTQIA youth and their families in the play therapy room in offering play and expressive therapies.

We will briefly explore the challenges that gender identifying children and teens face.

As play therapists, we can provide various techniques and interventions that enhance the clients' self-identity and self-expression.

This is a live event. A Summary PowerPoint PDF link will be shared after the webinar.

To receive your 2.5-hour Content you need to participate in the entire webinar, complete the evaluation.

Must be a mental health Clinician (Social Worker, Counselor, Psychologist or mental health graduate student to receive play therapy contact hours towards RPT credentialing or renewal.

Learning Objectives:

1. Discuss 6 play and expressive arts interventions to use with children, teens, and families.

2. Identify resources for parents and professionals using play therapy.

3. Discuss what being culturally attuned with LGBTQ with clients means.

4. Define the ecosystem theory to use with clients in play therapy sessions to be ethically sound.

5. Review the Ecosystem theory and skills and methods in working with clients in play therapy sessions.

Sabra Starnes is a Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing for 21 years in the DMV area. She worked for 13 years in the District of Columbia Public School System as a School Social Worker.

She is the founder of Next Place Therapy Services a private practice that has offices in Largo, Maryland and Washington, DC.

She became a Registered Play Therapist in 2003. And a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor in 2015. She presents both in person and online play therapy training towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist.

Sabra's training still is engaging, humorous and fun. She has a strong passion for educating and supporting clinicians to become effective and highly skilled play therapists.

She is strong and active in promoting play therapy through having meEt and greets, networking, selling of her own play therapy products.
